About

This blog is about my experiences of Brazil, be it travel, culture, politics, food, drink...  Ever since the first time I came to this amazing country, I fell in love with the place and within 8 years I was living here!

The name of the blog comes from a joke with a Scottish friend of mine who is also married to a Brazilian.  As we worked at the same company in California, we used to meet up for coffee in the afternoon and called it the Married a Brazilian Support Group.  When I started this blog, it seemed like a natural title!

(For the record, and in answer to the seemingly innocuous question asked by suspiciously smiling Brazilian women, it ISN'T bad being married to a Brazilian and a support group isn't REALLY needed.  I'm writing this of my own free will and am in no way fearing for my life...)

About Me

I am an English Electronic Engineer with a keep interest in photography.  I met my wife in 2008 when she was living in the South East of England and we got married in April 2010 in Scotland, the weekend when an Icelandic volcano erupted, closing the airspace of Western Europe - nice!  More about that here.

In 2011, we moved to Northern California for my work, and stayed there for about 4 and a half years before deciding to give life in Brazil a try.  At present, we live in Pato Branco, a small city in the southern state of Paraná, but we will soon be moving to Curitiba, the capital of the state.

As well as photography, I love travel, music and football (the one you play with your feet that is, not the one with the helmets and padding!) and support Aston Villa and Atlético Paranaense.
